Dr. Munin Saikia is an academician, music composer, lyricist, music arranger, and singer. He presently serves as Vice Principal, Head of the Department of History, and Associate Professor at Bapujee College, Sarukshetri, Barpeta, Assam, and is a research guide in the Department of History at Gauhati University.
Born in Narayanpur of Lakhimpur district in 1972, he had his schooling at N.L. Government Higher Secondary School, graduated from Cotton College, completed his M.A. from Pune University, and earned his Ph.D. from Gauhati University. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in travel and tourism and a senior diploma in music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. At present, his permanent residence is in Guwahati, Assam.
A true son of the soil, Dr. Munin Saikia has an interest in western, folk, and traditional songs alike. He has composed a number of songs that depict love for nature and for people. Having started his music career from the very inception of his life, he is, at present, a stage performer spreading his performances all over the country.
